The RMIT Women’s Football Academy’s cadets continue to excel in the wide world with 2019 senior vice-captain Thomay Nicolaou signed to the Essendon VFL Women’s list for the upcoming season.
Midfielder/forward Nicolaou was one of the standout performers in the Redbacks’ maiden season in VAFA Premier C, using her strength at the contest and goal sense to finish second in the Best & Fairest vote count, win the club’s senior leading goal-kicker award and receive the Player’s Player Award as nominated by her teammates.
Nicolaou is the second Academy Redback to make her berth onto a VFL Women’s list after Neve O’Connor joined Collingwood late last year.
Academy executive committee member Chris O’Connor has commended Nicolaou’s dedication.
“When the Academy recommended to Essendon to look at Thomay, we knew that she would approach it with the right attitude and we know that she’s worked extremely hard.
“We wish her all the best.”
