Matt Newbold to be assistant coach in 2020

The 2020 Academy coaching line-up has been strengthened with the appointment of Matt Newbold to the position of assistant coach.

Newbold was a key and popular figure in the Redbacks’ inaugural season as the Head of Strength & Conditioning. His supervision of the warm-ups and post-match recovery, triangulated with the sports medical therapy team and High-Performance Manager Vince Atkinson, fulfilled the Academy’s aim of establishing best practice for the RMIT players.

Newbold will be an assistant to Mitch Lower, who was recently re-appointed as senior coach after establishing a successful foundation at Bundoora Oval.

“I’m really excited to introduce the game of footy to our newer players and help the players returning from 2019 develop their skills and take their footy to the next level,” says Newbold.
