Eliza Goulding joins as Treasurer

RMIT Sport member Eliza Goulding will join the Academy as the inaugural Treasurer in the latest signing ahead of pre-season.

Eliza has been working with RMIT Sport for six years and currently coordinates the RMIT Representative Sport program on a national level.

“My role as the University Team Manager allows me to work closely with students to prepare and coordinate the Redbacks teams, consisting of around 300 students and 30 different sport teams each year,” says Eliza.

“This program gives students the opportunity to travel to the Gold Coast to compete in a national multi-sport event, where the RMIT Redbacks Women’s AFL team has a very rich and successful history.”

Eliza speaks with unbridled excitement about joining the Academy.

“Having seen first-hand how far this club has come from the initial concept to where it is now, I knew I had to be a part of it. The team of people driving this Academy are incredibly passionate, and I wanted to be involved in what is such an exciting time for the club.

While Eliza’s football journey began as a player back in her school days, she never joined a club, making her berth into the Academy all that more personally significant.

“What is so special about the WFA is that it will be a place where young women feel comfortable to give it a go, regardless of their ability or experience,” she says.

“Being a brand new club, we have an exceptional coaching team who will cater for all levels, fostering an inclusive environment for women to enjoy footy while also building their skills and fitness. If playing footy is something that you have ever considered doing, this is your chance to give it a go.”

With the Academy still signing players for its first season playing in the VAFA, Eliza says the opportunities that will be presented across such a wide range of areas is truly exciting.

“What sets us apart from other clubs is our involvement with many areas of the University, including Health and Exercise Science, and Media and Communications, just to name a few. This collaboration will not only provide benefits to our athletes but will also provide practical learning environments for students within these areas.”
